Preview of Week Ending 09/19

World History 9 (White Day)

On Monday, the map activity on Christianity is due for homework. For those of you who haven't submitted the Judaism worksheet, this is your last chance for credit. We will begin our investigation of Islam with a KWL activity followed by a guided reading using the textbook. To conclude class, we will jointly create our bullet points for the Religion Comparison Matrix. For homework, students should review the Comparison Matrix of the three great monotheisms.

On Wednesday, we will begin an investigation of Hinduism using content packets. In groups, students will be responsible for identifying one of our elements for comparison (origin, holy texts, organization, beliefs, rituals, divisions). Each group will be responsible for presenting their findings to the class. There may or may not be a quiz on the three monotheisms.

On Friday, we will investigate Buddhism using our elements for comparison. The method of instruction is currently pending, due to availability of resources. The blog will be updated as soon as I have made a decision.

World History 9 Hon (White Day)

On Monday, the map activity on Christianity is due for homework, as is the primary source reading of the Gospel of Mark. For those of you who haven't submitted the Judaism worksheet, this is your last chance for credit. Firstly, we will complete our class analysis of Christianity. Then, we will begin our investigation of Islam with an advanced content packet on Islam. Students will be expected to complete a guided reading sheet. For homework, there will be a primary source reading of the Qur'an/Koran.

On Wednesday, we will begin an investigation of Hinduism using content packets. Each student will be responsible for creating a guided reading sheet for the packet (that's right, YOU make the questions!). We will fill out the Comparison Matrix together; what is not completed in class will be homework. There may or may not be a primary source reading for homework.

On Friday, we will investigate Buddhism using our elements for comparison. The method of instruction is currently pending, due to availability of resources. The blog will be updated as soon as I have made a decision.

n.b. My state-issued laptop is still out for repairs. I have finally gotten Powergrade to function on my personal laptop, so corrected classwork will begin to flow back to all of you this week. Exciting, eh?
