Class Preview for the Week Starting 04/07/08

White Day (CP), Block 4:

On account of the unexpected early release on Wednesday of last week, we will be having the 3rd quarter examination on Tuesday, April 08. Any student who would like to claim any schoolwork or who has any last minute questions before the test is encouraged to visit Mr. Cote in room 2. We will be beginning a unit, "Ancient Greece and the Birth of Democracy," on Thursday, April 10. There will be a supplementary reading due on Thursday, and there will be an inquiry chart and "exit ticket" due for homework over the weekend.

Red Day (Hon), Block 4:

We begin a new unit this week, "Ancient Greece and the Birth of Democracy." On Monday, April 07, we will discuss the primary source reading (Aristotle) from the weekend, will watch a presentation on the influence of geography on Ancient Greece, and will work on a guided reading sheet on the origin of Greece, which will need to be completed for class on Wednesday. On Wednesday, April 09, we will have a lesson on the rise of the polis and tyranny, followed by a class discussion on Greek political thought. Students will then work in pairs on a packet about the development of Sparta. For homework, students will be expected to complete the packet on Sparta and also to respond to a primary source reading (Kallinos). On Friday, April 11, students will work in pairs to complete a packet on Athens. Using the packets on Athens and Sparta, students will analyze the impact of Greek political thought on the system of American government. Over the weekend, students will have a guided reading sheet on the rise and fall of Classical Greece.
