Tyranny, the phalanx, and changes in Greek government

The Roman Kingdom (753 – 510 BC)
- How did the Kings improve Rome?
- why was the kingdom ended? By whom?

The Roman Republic (510- 27 BC)
- Identify & list powers: Senate, Consilium Plebis, Comitia Centuriata, Consuls, Praetors, Tribunes
- What was the effect of the sack of Rome by the Gauls (390 BC) on Rome?
- How did the Romans treat conquered peoples?
- The Punic Wars: how did Romans win, who was Hannibal, why did Rome react as they did?
- How did Marius, Sulla, The First Triumvirate, Julius Caesar, and The Second Triumvirate weaken the Republic? Be able to give a couple of concrete examples.

- How did Augustus create the Empire? What exactly was an emperor?
