Preview of Week Beginning 05/12

White Day (CP), Block 4:

Last week, we devoted time as a class to finishing up Greece and the Hellenistic World. This week, we will be moving into the history of Rome. On Monday, we will discuss the impact of geography on the Romans. For homework, students will be asked to complete a worksheet on the influence of geography on the Romans and a guided reading on the origins of the city of Rome. On Wednesday, I will make a short presentation on the foundation of the Roman Republic. Students will then have time to begin a packet on the rise of Rome; this is to be completed for homework. On Friday, we will investigate the transition from the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire. There will be a packet on this topic for homework over the weekend. Students should check with me to be certain that they have passed in all of their work prior to the issuing of progress reports!

Red Day (Hon), Block 4:

On Tuesday, we will have a class discussion concerning Augustus and the primary source reading. This will be followed by a presentation by me concerning the Empire and its ultimate fall. Students will be asked to complete a guided reading on the Empire for homework. On Thursday, students will receive a rubric for the student product that will constitute part of the grade for the Greece and Rome exam. They will also receive a review sheet for the same exam. Class time will be devoted to the initial planning and research of the product and/or the review of the study guide. The Greece & Rome exam is currently scheduled for Friday, May 23. Students should check with me to be certain that they have passed in all of their work prior to the issuing of progress reports!
